As I took over the program in the Winter of 2012 I inherited seven seniors that could have compromised the mission on which we set forth. Beyond the initial feeling-out process, there was never one athlete that wavered from the commitment I asked for and the new demands I placed on them. They understood our vision and matured tremendously over the course of this past year.
I motivated them by challenging them to be the first team to establish a consecutive winning streak that rivals my alma mater. We took that step and finished 5-4 and set the wheels in motion for the next group of seniors to carry the torch. The record that is more important to me is the one of 7-0. I inherited seven seniors at the beginning of my tenure and that is exactly how many graduated with a Seaside High School Diploma.
