Camp Week in the Books

8/18/2012

The first week of Seaside football camp is a wrap and it was fantastic.  Our staff was extremely pleased with the effort of our team and very happy with the progress that was made during the week.  We set high expectations for our players and they all rose to the occasion.

We were able to implement a significant portion of our new offense, begin work on understanding the fundamentals of our defensive scheme, and commit a significant amount of time to improving our special teams.

Our turnout was great and provided a great foundation to challenge each player to compete for an opportunity to play on Friday nights.  We made it through the week without any injuries and look forward to starting doubles on Monday at 3:30 at the high school after a weekend of rest and recuperation.  Be sure to check the calendar so you are in the right place at the right time and ready to play.

Our youth camp was a huge success and far exceeded our expectations.  The first night of camp saw more than 70 youth players from Seaside enjoy the opportunity to interact with our staff and players and further develop their fundamentals.  It was equally impressive to see the parents and community members of Seaside turn out to support our youth football program.  If your son or daughter has yet to sign up for youth football it is not too late.  Please contact Bill Westerholm at bwwesterholm@seaside.k12.or.us.

It's great to see a resurgence of community pride in the football program at SHS.  If you'd like to show your support by making a donation or by purchasing Seaside Football gear please check the appropriate links.

Finally, please check Monday morning with Jeannie Romine that your student is cleared to participate in Monday's practice and has all of the appropriate paperwork completed.  Due to OSAA guidelines any player that does not practice Monday will not meet the minimum amount of practices (9) needed to compete in our first game on Friday, August 31st.

Thank you again for all of your support.  If you have suggestions on how we can better serve our players, parents, and community please feel free to email me directly at jroberts@seaside.k12.or.us.

    MOC:  Making of Champions

Seaside football is driven to impact the lives of young men through teaching the foundations of responsible citizenship. The Making of Champions theory is comprised of three components that all football players are expected to live their lives by: Men of Character, Men of Commitment, and Men of Class. It is our belief that through teaching and living this lifestyle we will create young men that will not only be successful on the football field, but more importantly, will be successful in life.
